Well, we have been talking about so many subjects, and this one could not be missing. I want to talk about blood donation. Did you know that just a small percentage of the population donate blood regularly, and this percentage it is not enough if we compare to the amount we need? To donate blood is a small gesture which can save many lives, actually, each time you donate blood you can save up to 4 lives. You can donate blood 3 times a year (if you are a woman) and 4 times (if you are a man). It is completely safe, you are saving lives and you still get a day off at work.

With so many people needing blood, how can we do not donate? I could not stop wondering, we do not donate because we are afraid, because we are busy or because we do not care?

Once more I have to use the interview we made about our subject. I asked them if they would like to do something to change the actual situation, to help the others, and the answer I got was a simple sentence “If I get something in return”. Can you imagine my reaction? I said “What do you mean?”, and once more I got surprised, he told me: “We just do things when we get something in return, even when we do something for a friend, we are expecting something back”. Well, what can we have as a return when we donate blood? Saving lives? I guess it is not enough for many people and that is why as an incentive, the person who donates blood has one day off at work. Well, we can see for the small piece of donators that it is still not enough, maybe we should offer money, then?

Well, in fact, this made me remember something that happened to me (and people still do not understand why I am so pessimistic…). When I was 18, I decided to donate blood and I did it with 3 more friends. When we were waiting our turn, an old man came to talk to us, he told us he had a disease and for this reason he had to receive a transfusion every week. He asked us to donate in his name because he needed a certain number of donators for month. So, we did. The man was very grateful and he gave us around R$ 20,00 and left. We went after him to return the money, and he told us that it was very difficult to find people to help him, and that he was used to give people money for that. We got chocked and we returned the money to the man, who got really emotional. It was not the most impressive, the worst was that the others who were waiting to donate could not understand why we did not want the money.

Why we can not do one thing just because it is the right thing to do, without having anything in return? As presented before, there are so many things we can do that even being small they can improve and change a lot our situation, such as recycling the trash, be a volunteer in schools, hospitals… And now, donating blood…. As Armstrong said “A small step to man but a giant step to mankind”. What about you, have you done your part?

Bom, nós temos falado sobre tantos assuntos, e esse não poderia ficar de fora: Doação de sangue. Você sabia que apenas uma pequena parcela da população doa sangue regularmente, e que essa porcentagem não é suficiente comparado ao tanto que precisamos? Doar sangue é um gesto pequeno que pode salvar vidas. Na verdade, cada vez que você doa sangue, você salva até 4 vidas. Mulheres podem doar sangue até 3 vezes ao ano, já homem pode doar até 4 vezes. É totalmente seguro, você salva vidas e ainda tem um dia de folga no trabalho!!!

Com tantas pessoas precisando de sangue, como tão pouca gente doa? Não pude deixar de pensar, nós não doamos porque temos medo, porque estamos ocupados ou porque não nos importamos?

Mais uma vez me valho da entrevista feita sobre nosso assunto. Eu perguntei aos entrevistados se eles fariam alguma coisa para mudar nossa situação atual, ou para ajudar os outros. A resposta que obtive foi “Se eu ganhar algo com isso”. Você consegue imaginar minha reação? Eu perguntei “O que você quer dizer com isso?”, e mais uma vez me surpreendi, ele disse: “Nós só fazemos algo se ganharmos alguma coisa com isso, mesmo quando fazemos algo por um amigo, nós esperamos algo em troca”. Bom, o que ganhamos em doar sangue? Salvar vidas? Acho que isso não é suficiente, e por isso, como incentivo, as pessoas que doam sangue tem direito ao dia de folga no trabalho. Pela pequena parcela de doadores, parece que isso também não é suficiente. Talvez se oferecêssemos dinheiro...

Na verdade, isso me lembra algo que aconteceu comigo (e as pessoas ainda não entendem por que eu sou pessimista...) Quando eu tinha 18 anos eu decidi doar sangue e fui com mais 3 amigas. Enquanto esperávamos pela nossa vez, um senhor veio falar conosco, ele nos contou que ele tinha uma doença e por essa razão ele precisava de transfusão de sangue toda semana. Ele, então, pediu que doássemos em nome dele e nós assim fizemos. O homem ficou muito agradecido, nos deu eu torno de R$20,00 e saiu. Nós fomos atrás dele para devolver o dinheiro. O homem então nos contou que era muito difícil encontrar pessoas que o ajudasse, que ele já estava acostumado a pagar as pessoas para que elas “doassem” sangue em nome dele. Nós ficamos chocadas e devolvemos o dinheiro, o senhor ficou emocionado e foi embora. Isso não foi a parte mais impressionante, o pior foi que as pessoas que estavam esperando para doar sangue, não entenderam o porquê de termos recusado o dinheiro.

Por que nós não podemos fazer algo só porque é a coisa certa a ser feita, sem receber nada em troca? Como mostrado em posts anteriores, tem tantas coisas que podemos fazer, que mesmo pequenas podem melhoram e mudar muita coisa, assim como reciclar o lixo, ser voluntários em escolas, hospitais... E agora doar sangue... Como Armstrong disse “Um pequeno passo para o homem, mas um salto para a humanidade”. E você, já fez sua parte?

We’ve been talking on serious issues, trying to convince ourselves to do something. But for now, let’s try something different. Do you still think that is too hard to do something about the planet? Too boring, perhaps? Well, I selected a few videos and sites for you to have fun and think about our faithfulness problem.

Have you ever heard about “30 Seconds to Mars”? It’s a band. What does it have to do with our theme? They’ve made a site o discuss the environment problem: More than that, they’re inviting their fans to do something about it: At the ‘Videos’ section, you’ll find out that you can do a short video about the theme, as well as you may watch videos from different parts of the world. At the ‘Tips’ section, you will find 10 simple tips on how to NOT destroy the environment. We’re trying to show you that no matter who you are or where you live; there is always something you can do to change your world. That’s one of the reasons our post are translated to English and to Portuguese. But, let’s not make this task boring! We can discuss the problem without falling in the same old speech… Let’s try to do it on our own way (even if we have to try different things until we find it!)… Let’s keep on trying!

Nós estamos tentando te mostrar que não importa quem você é ou onde você vive, existe sempre alguma coisa que se pode fazer pelo mundo. New way to be human

We have been talking about a bunch of sad and pessimistic things and trying to, I don’t know, slap you people on the face and see if you come out with interesting ideas to change the world. But, the truth is, there are already a lot of people trying to change the present situation, and they have been doing this in several ways, using humor, songs and others.

Starting by my personal favorite, George Carlin, who is, in fact, complete faithless in the world, but treated this in a good mood and vivacity and made this comedy sketch in which he talks about environment and our prepotency in believe that we are destroying the world, when we cannot realize that we are not doing such a thing, but we are destroying ourselves.

Not only on the comedy Field there is people talking about the situation of the world and how our hands are tied. On the music area there are lots of singers and bands singing and writing about politics, war, environment, and everything else that has been on our minds lately. Some bands seem to dedicate their entire work on trying to open people’s eyes for what it’s happening. One of these bands is ‘System of a Down’ that managed a large fan base and was able to spread their message. It is very interesting to see a video in which they show parades in behalf of peace while they protest against war. It is always good to see people gathering to do something to the world, so, check this out too.

The song that I believe that it speaks for this generation and really reveals our feelings about not liking the world how it is but not knowing what to do is “Waiting on the World to Change” by John Mayer. The song, unfortunately, was not popular enough in Brazil but it is nice to hear and see exactly what we are trying to tell you about.

So, as you can sse, there are a lot of people debating about the subject and I hope this only grows, more and more, because then, the next generation won’t be the faithless one but the one that has the write to hope.

[ A gente tem falado desse monte de coisas pessimistas e tristes e tentando, sei lá, dar um tapa na cara do pessoal pra ver se eles vêm com idéias interessantes para mudar o mundo. Mas a verdade é que tem um monte de gente tentando melhorar a situação que está, e tem feito isso, muitas vezes com muito bom humor.

Comecemos pelo meu favorito, George Carlin, que na verdade é um completo desacreditado, mas tratava isso com bom humor e animação e fez esse quadro de comédia falando sobre o meio ambiente e a nossa prepotência em achar que estamos destruindo o mundo, enquanto temos que notar que não estamos fazendo nada disso, estamos é nos autodestruindo.

Não apenas na área da comédia que temos gente falando do mundo e de como nossas mãos estão atadas. Nas músicas temos muita gente falando da situação da política, guerra, meio ambiente e tudo o que tem nos afligido. Algumas bandas parecem se dedicar inteiramente a tentar alertar as pessoas dos problemas e fazê-las abrir os olhos. Uma dessas bandas é System of a Down que conseguiu um público bem grande e até consegue passar sua mensagem. Muito interessante esse clipe onde eles mostram passeatas a favor da paz enquanto protestam sobre a guerra. É sempre bom ver gente tentando fazer alguma coisa então vejam vocês também.

A música que eu acho que marca a geração e realmente transparece todos os nossos sentimentos, dos jovens que realmente não gostam do que está acontecendo com o mundo, mas não sabem muito que fazer, é “Waiting on the World to Change” de John Mayer. A música, infelizmente não fez o sucesso merecido no Brasil, mas é legal ouvir e ver exatamente o que estamos tentando transmitir.

E não apenas esse blog tenta falar sobre o mundo, mas muitos outros jovens estão usando a ferramenta da internet para expor suas idéias, algumas vezes bem mais otimistas, algumas vezes seguindo a nossa linha do pessimismo, mas falando e discutindo sobre o assunto, como é o caso de nossos colegas:

Somewhere a Clock Is Ticking

...and then, people stop care about it. They just don’t care anymore. About what? Anything. Everything. Why should we try to find garbage can if we can through it on the floor? There are people being paid to clean the streets. If it’s public, then let the government give the properly support.

And the time passes us by. At first, there are no big changes, we even seem to be happier and more focus on our lives and affairs. The news doesn’t talk about it, people don’t think about it. Let’s run against the clock to get what we want no matter what.
Someday, some children will ask us, pointing at a photograph “What is this?” They won’t understand. It’s hard to explain. They perhaps will search about it. But you already know the definition:

“A park is a protected area, usually in its natural or semi-natural state and set aside for some purpose, often to do with human recreation. The natural state consists of various interdependent elements: minerals, rocks, soil types, water, flora and fauna.”

“Human recreation? But in your days didn’t you have the internet?” Yes, we did.

“What happened with the trees and animals?” They’d died.

“But why you didn’t try to stop it?” We’d tried, didn’t we?

The children will stay looking at the photo for a little while, trying to understand how something so big can disappear in such a short time. Secretly you know it wasn’t that fast.

First, we started cutting down the trees. Civilization and Progress were our new gods… and so we had said: “We don’t care about the nature’s laws, we have science. The animals were just animals; we can live without them. Let’s fight new wars… Politics? What about it? What do I have to do with it? I only care about my own personal problems… Future? Let the next generation care about it…”

… and so we did it. The youngest child starts to cry. “Why are you crying?” The alarm rings once more. No time to conversation. We must go. Now.

[Em algum lugar o relógio está correndo]

… e então, as pessoas deixaram de se importar. Elas não ligam mais. Sobre o que? Qualquer coisa? Todas as coisas; Porque deveríamos tentar encontrar uma lata de lixo se podemos jogar no chão? Existem pessoas sendo pagas para manter as ruas limpas. Se é público, então deixe que o governo cuide disso.

E o tempo passa. No começo, não houve grandes mudanças, nós até parecemos mais felizes e concentrados nas nossas próprias vidas e negócios. Os jornais não falam mais sobre isso, o povo não pensa mais a respeito. Vamos correr contra o tempo para conseguirmos o que queremos, não importa como.

Num dia, algumas crianças nos perguntarão, apontando para uma foto. “O que é isso?” Elas não entendem. É difícil de explicar. Elas talvez pesquisem sobre isso. Mas você já conhece a resposta:

“Um parque é uma área protegida, geralmente em seu estado natural ou semi-natural e com alguma finalidade, frequentemente ligada ao lazer humano. O estado natural consiste de diversos elementos interdependentes: minerais, pedras, tipos de solo, água, flora e fauna”.

“Lazer humano? Mas nos seus dias não existia internet:” Sim, existia.

“Mas porque vocês não tentaram conter isso?” Nós tentamos, não?

As crianças olharão para a fotografia por um tempinho, tentando entender como algo tão grande pode desaparecer em tão pouco tempo. Secretamente você sabe, não foi tão rápido assim.

Primeiro, nós começamos a derrubar as árvores. Civilização e Progresso eram os nossos novos deuses... e então nós dissemos: “Nós não ligamos para as regras da natureza, nós temos ciência. Os animais são só animais; nós podemos viver sem eles. Vamos batalhar novas guerras. Política? O que tem isso? O que eu tenho a ver com isso? Eu só me importo com os meus problemas pessoas... Futuro? Deixe que a próxima geração resolva isso...”.

... e assim fizemos. A criança mais nova começa a chorar. “Porque você está chorando?” A sirene toca mais uma vez. Não há tempo para conversar. Nós devemos ir. Agora.

To think about what we have been discussing about politics and how faithless this generation is, made me wonder about the reasons. It seems strange that with so many starving people in the street, so many kids needing someone to take care of them, so many people, just like us, at traffic lights asking some coins to survive and we do not do anything for them. Sometimes we have money but we say we do not, sometimes we have time to help and we say we do not. But why? Is there any reasonable reason for that?

With all this thoughts in my mind, I could not stop wondering, is there a reason for we not help the others or we just do not care at all?

I have so many thoughts, so many opinions and ideas that I do not know how to start. First of all, I would like to tell something that happened to me some time ago. It was something really shocking and since then I could not say no when people ask me food or some help. I was going to work when I saw a woman eating garbage. Up that day, I have already heard that those things could happen, but I had not seen… I did not know what to do or how to act, I stayed there just looking at her for some moments (I do not know how long exactly, but it was time enough to imagine how good it would be if nobody had to do what that woman was doing…). The first thing I did after those silent moments was to look around to see if there was someone seeing that. Do you know what was even worst? To see a lot of people passing by that woman without even care, it seemed everybody was used to that. That scene was not supposed to be something normal! From that moment, I got kind of pessimist about human being…

As I said before, nowadays, I can not say no for someone who needs help and I could not imagine a reason for someone to do it. However, I had to do an interview about our topic “Faithless Generation” and I heard something that made me change a little bit my mind. We asked the interviewed if something have happened to make them faithless. One of then told us a story and I will try to reproduce. She said: “Once, a woman with four kids, asked my mother something to eat because they were hungry. My mother have not done shopping yet, and she gave the only thing she hade, some breads. It was yesterday’s bread, but it was what she had, and she gave. Some minutes later, my mother saw that same woman throwing out the bread”. Well, it is interesting, was that woman really starving or she was pretending? If she was really hungry she would have had eaten the bread, people eat even garbage when they are hungry!

This interview made me feel interested about it, so I started to ask people if something have happened to them… For my surprise, this bread story is quite common, it happened to almost everybody (a similar story) or everybody knows someone with whom this have happened. I kept asking and another interesting story was told to me. A friend told me the following story: “I was driving and I stopped at the traffic light, a middle age man came closer to my car and asked some money because he was starving. I gave him a one real coin, the man started to scream, saying bad words and threw the coin in my car”. Again, was the man hungry?

Well, some time ago because I saw that woman eating garbage, I got kind of pessimist about human being. What about know? How am I supposed to feel about it? People try to get advantage about the others all the time, people lye about being hungry and needed to get money. How can we know those people on the street are telling the true? It is up to you now, is it a reasonable reason for people refuse help the others?

Pensar sobre o que tem sido discutido sobre política e quão desacreditada essa geração é, me fez pensar sobre as razões disso. Parece estranho que com tantas pessoas famintas na rua, tantas crianças precisando de alguém que cuide delas, tantas pessoas (como nós!) nos faróis pedindo moedas para poder sobreviver e nós não fazemos nada pra ajudá-los. Às vezes nós até temos dinheiro, mas dizemos que não temos. Às vezes nós temos tempo pra ajudar e dizemos não ter. Mas por quê? Existe uma razão razoável pra isso?

Com todos esses pensamentos em minha cabeça, eu não pude deixar de pensar: existe uma razão para nós não ajudar-mos aos outros ou nós simplesmente não nos importamos?

Eu tenho tantos pensamentos, tantas opiniões e idéias que simplesmente não sei por onde começar. Primeiro, gostaria de contar algo que aconteceu comigo algum tempo atrás. Aconteceu algo realmente chocante e desde então, eu não consigo dizer não quando alguém me pede comida ou ajuda. Eu estava indo trabalhar quando eu vi uma mulher comendo lixo. Até aquele dia, eu já tinha ouvido que essas coisas aconteciam, mas nunca tinha visto... Eu não sabia o que fazer ou como agir, eu permaneci por alguns instantes só olhando aquela mulher (não sei ao certo quanto tempo, mas o suficiente para imaginar o quanto seria bom se ninguém precisasse comer lixo...) A primeira coisa que fiz, assim que “acordei” foi olhar em volta pra ver se mais alguém estava vendo aquilo. Sabe o que foi pior? Ver as pessoas passando por ela sem nem se quer se importar, como se todos estivessem acostumados a ver aquilo. Aquela cena não deveria ser considerada normal!! A partir daquele instante, eu me tornei meio pessimista com relação ao ser humano.

Como eu disse antes, hoje em dia, eu não consigo dizer não para alguém que precisa de ajuda e não conseguia imaginar uma razão para que alguém o fizesse. Contudo, eu precisei fazer uma entrevista sobre nosso tema “geração desacreditada” e ouvi algo que me fez mudar um pouco de idéia. Nós perguntamos aos entrevistados se algo havia acontecido para tê-los tornado desacreditados. Um deles nos disse uma história, a qual vou tentar reproduzir. Ela disse: “Certa vez, uma mulher com quatro crianças, pediu pra minha mãe algo pra comer porque eles tinham fome. Minha mãe não tinha feito compra ainda, e ela deu a única coisa que ela tinha, alguns pães. Não eram pães fresquinhos, eram pães amanhecidos, mas era o que ela tinha, e ela deu. Alguns minutos depois, minha mãe viu a mulher jogando o pão fora”. Bom, isso é interessante, a mulher estava mesmo faminta ou ela estava fingindo? Se ela estivesse mesmo com fome, ela teria comido o pão. Pessoas comem até lixo quando tem fome!

Essa entrevista me fez ficar interessada no assunto, então comecei a perguntar para as pessoas se alguma coisa assim tinha acontecido com eles... Para minha surpresa, essa história do pão é comum, isso aconteceu com quase todo mundo, e todo mundo conhece alguém que passou por isso. Eu continuei perguntando e outra história interessante me foi contada. Um amigo me contou a seguinte história: “Eu estava dirigindo e parei no farol. Um homem de meia idade se aproximou e me pediu dinheiro alegando fome. Eu dei a ele uma moeda de um real. O homem começou a gritar e me xingar e atirou a moeda em mim”. Mais uma vez, o homem estava mesmo com fome?

Bom, algum tempo atrás porque eu vi uma mulher comendo lixo eu fiquei meio pessimista com relação ao ser humano. E agora? Como devo me sentir sobre isso? As pessoas tentar levar vantagem sobre os outros o tempo todo. As pessoas mentem sobre estarem famintas ou necessitadas para conseguir dinheiro. Como podemos saber se essas pessoas nas ruas estão realmente dizendo a verdade? Bom, depende de você agora, esta é uma razão razoável para que as pessoas se recusem a ajudar os outros?

The Beautiful Letdown

Hi people, Poli here...

I will talk something that I believe is true today... So, in my opinion, the reason of it all, this indifference, lack of motivation, interest and preoccupation that young people are going through are not the cause of lacking of empathy. It is exhaustion. We are all very tired of seeing all the wrong things that are happening and not being able to do anything about it, of seeing changes and nothing really changing. Do you want a real example of what I am talking about? Politics in Brazil! I can even see people shrinking on their seats in front of the computer when seeing the word: 'politics". Nobody really likes to argue on politics. Well, I can't say 'nobody', but at least the greater number of the population. And you know why 'nobody' likes politics? Because we are really tired of it.

Come on, who here stands in front of the voting machine with the heart and mind full of hope and conviction that the guy you are voting for is the exactly right choice to help Brazil? Even when you chose blank vote or none of the above, who here really feels like you are making a difference? I don't think I know anyone... We are so very tired of all the same people getting elected that and never doing anything to help the people out. We just see scandals and robbery and a lot of people that are not even a bit ashamed.

Politics in Brazil is already a great party. Nobody takes it serious anymore. And it does't matter if some new politician comes around and say he our she has good intentions, who is going to be the first to believe in him or her? The first one to be called stupid as well? I think we are so disbelieved that we have gotten softer. We don't car anymore who wins or not, because deep down there is no difference between any of them. And they are always the same people as well. A group that does not mix. I even have conspiratorial theory that they all rule together in a dark room while laughing at our sillyness. After all I can't even remember an election for mayor of São Paulo, for example, since I've been living (not that this is a very long time...) that didn't included Marta, Alckimin or Maluf. Old news does not make a newspaper and everybody knows this. And it is not worthy to think that the ones that are down on the chart getting lesser votes, that underdog that will not win, could change something if he was elected. We have enough proofs that politics in Brazil hasn't changed almost at all and it it does not seem wise to bet on anyone else.

Just think about our past. What was the time in Brazilian's history that we were perfectly happy with everything? That everything was going just right? Never, actually. Monarchy didn't work, neither did the democracy or republic. Not even dictatorship and socialism did not work in other countries, why would it manage to work it out in a place where everything turns out to be carnival. Nothing actually worked and the changes that the other generations fought for did not bring order or progress, exactly. Ok, alright... not having the dictatorship anymore is a big step. We can say whatever we think and there is no chance we are going to prison or be tortured just because we mocked the government. A problem that was solved. But what about the others? Negligence, corruption, lack of priorities, overinvoicing, few investments in the population, horrible distribution of money, does anybody knows what to do with all that? The truth is that it seems we did evrything there was to be done, we pilled the onion until there is no more layer left, we took care of every problem that was within our hands and now we can see the main problem of Brazil. And when we do have the capacity of facing the center and find a solution, well, we do not have any tricks left. Our patience is over, our creativity has been wear out and even though we are better informed and better educated we cannot see a solution. Kinda frustrating, isn't it?

I believe that is why no one talks about politics, or enjoys arguing about it... We do not like to remember or frustrations and failures. It's depressive and annoying. But what do we do about it?
a) Create our own party

b) Move to Antarctica

c) Do not care if your life continues the same

d) Other options that are more reasonable and we still haven't figure it out

e) None of the above (add some suggestions on the commentary box)

[Oi gente, Poli aqui...

Vou falar algo que eu penso aqui hoje... Então, pra mim, a causa disso tudo, esse descaso, essa desmotivação, essa falta de interesse e preocupação pelos problemas que os jovens estão passando é uma coisa diferente do que falta de empatia. É cansaço. Estamos todos muito cansados de ver as coisas erradas acontecendo e não termos poder para fazer nada. De ver mudanças e não ver nada realmente mudando. Quer um exemplo bem concreto para isso? A política no Brasil! Já sinto até o pessoal se enconlhendo na cadeira do computador ao ler essa palavra: "política". Ninguém gosta de discutir política. Bom, ninguém também não, mas a grande maioria da população pelo menos. E sabe por que ninguém gosta de política? Porque estamos muito cansados dela.

Fale a verdade, quem aqui vai na urna no dia da votação com certeza absoluta e aquela esperança no coração de que o cara que você está votando é o melhor que poderia acontecer com o Brasil. Mesmo quando você vota branco ou nulo, quem aqui sente que está fazendo a diferença? Acho que eu não conheço ninguém... Estamos tão cansados de ver pessoa após pessoa entrando no governo e nunca fazendo algo que realmente satisafazesse o povo. Só vemos escandalos e roubos e muita gente cara de pau.

A política no Brasil já virou festa mesmo. Ninguém mais leva a sério. E não importa que venha alguém que diga que tem boas intenções, quem vai ser o primeiro a acreditar nela? O primeiro a ser chamado de tapado também? Acho que a gente ficou tã descrente que ficamos moles. Não nos importamos mais em quem ganhe, porque no fundo, no fundo, não tem diferença entre nenhum deles. E é sempre o mesmo pessoal. Uma panelinha marcada já. Tenho até uma teoria conspiratória que eles todos mandam juntos e riem de nossas caras de bestas por trás. Afinal não consigo me lembrar de nenhuma eleição para prefeito de São Paulo, por exemplo, em todos os anos que eu existi (não que foram muitos) onde não estivessem concorrendo Marta, Alckmin ou Maluf concorrendo. Figurinha não completa álbum e todo mundo sabe disso. E não adianta pensa que aqueles outros que ficam em baixo nas pesquisas, a zebra que não vai ganhar mesmo, poderia mudar alguma coisa se fosse eleito. Tivemos provas suficientes que a política no Brasil não muda significantemente e não adianta apostar em mais ninguém.

É só pensar no passado. Qual foi a vez na história do Brasil que poderiamos falar que estava tudo indo de vento em popa? Que estava realmente do jeito que deveria ser? Nunca realmente, a monarquia não funciono aqui, nem a república, ou a democracia, nem a ditadura e o socialismo não funcionou em outros países, porque daria certo aqui, onde tudo tende a virar carnaval? Nada funcionou de verdade e as mudanças que os outras gerações tentaram fazer não trouxeram exatamente ordem e progresso. Ok, tudo bem... a gente não tem mais ditadura e isso é um avanço. Podemos falar o que pensamos e não corremos o risco de sermos presos e torturados se tirarmos sarro do governo. Um problema resolvido. E os outros? Corrupção, descaso, falta de prioridades, super faturamento, pouco investimento na população, péssima distrubuição de renda, alguém sabe o que fazer com isso? A verdade é que parece que a gente já fez tudo o que dava pra ser feito, descascamos todas as camadas da cebola e tiramos os problemas de cima do problema principal até que podermos finalmente ver qual é a do Brasil. E quando temos capacidade de encarar o núcleo e achar uma solução, bom, não temos mais cartas na manga. Acabou nossa paciência, nossa criatividade e apesar de sermos mais bem informados e mais bem educados não vemos um resultado. Frustrante ou não é?

Acho que é por isso que ninguém fala de política, ou gosta de discutir... Não gostamos de lembrar das nossas frustrações e fracassos. É depressivo e chateante. Mas o que a gente faz?

b) Mudamos para a Antártica

c) Não se importar se a sua vida continuar do jeito que está

d) Outras opções mais sensastas que ainda não sabemos qual é?

Well, now that you already asked yourself what’s going on, don’t you think is time to do something about it? I don’t mean to go in a mission to save the world (we’re no so naive anymore), I’m talking about small things we can do without interfering (too much) on your daily life.

So you want to do something but you don’t know how to start it? We’ve been talking with some young ones about it and they were complaining about the lack of doable ideas. [We’re editing the video yet, but pretty soon will post it]. Inspired by it, I did a research about the subject and there are some suggestions for you:

Voluntary Work. Is there something you enjoy? Why don’t you share it with the others? You may go to the closest school and talk with the principal. Perhaps you may teach the children your favorite activity, like playing guitar or painting. This idea is actually simpler than you think. Community Work: OK, you don’t know what to do with your free days? You might like to do your regular job for the needy ones. For example, if you’re a hairdresser and you normally have a weekday off, why don’t you go visit a Retirement Center? Talk with the responsible ones… The old ladies and gentlemen will enjoy a new haircut for sure! You’re not the artistic type, but you like people? You can go to the Retirement Center and just talk with the elders, many of them don’t have a family anymore and they may feel lonely… Think about it.

Home Work: Well, you don’t like children or senior ones… Well, who said you have to talk with people to help them? And I’m not talking about given them your money. Have you ever thought about your garbage? You can help people with it. How? Selective Collect "Selective collect". There is a part of your trash that can be recycled and there are people that work with it. Olá pessoas!

Bem, agora que você já se perguntou o que está acontecendo, você não acha que está na hora de fazer algo a respeito? Eu não quero dizer sair em uma missão para salvar o mundo (nós não somos mais tão ingênuos). Eu estou falando sobre pequenas coisas que podemos fazer sem interferir (muito) no seu cotidiano.
Então você quer fazer algo, mas não sabe como começar? Nós conversamos com alguns jovens sobre isso e eles comentaram sobre a falta de idéias viáveis. [Nós ainda estamos editando o vídeo, mas em breve postaremos] Inspirada por isso, eu fiz uma pesquisa sobre o assunto e aqui estão algumas sugestões para você:

Trabalho Voluntário. Tem alguma coisa que você gosta? Por que não dividir com outras pessoas? Você pode ir até a escola mais próxima e conversar com o diretor. Talvez você possa ensinar para as crianças sua atividade favorita, como tocar violão ou pintura. Essa idéia é na verdade mais simples do que você pensa. Trabalho Comunitário: Então, você não sabe o que fazer nos seus dias de folga? Talvez gostasse de tentar fazer o seu trabalho normal, só que para os necessitados. Por exemplo, se você é um cabeleireiro e normalmente você tem um dia da semana de folga, por que não fazer uma visitinha a um asilo? Converse com os responsáveis… as senhoras e senhores com certeza irão gostar de um novo corte! Você não é do tipo artístico, mas gosta de pessoas? Você pode ir ao asilo e conversar com os idosos. Muitos deles não têm mais uma família e podem se sentir muito sozinhos... Pense sobre isso.
Tarefa Doméstica: OK, você não gosta de crianças ou dos mais velhos... Bem, quem disse que você tem que conversar com as pessoas para ajudá-las? E eu não estou falando sobre doar o seu dinheiro. Você já pensou sobre o seu lixo? Você pode ajudar os outros com ele. Como? Coleta seletiva. Tem uma parte do seu lixo que pode ser reciclada e existem pessoas que trabalham com isso.
