New way to be human

We have been talking about a bunch of sad and pessimistic things and trying to, I don’t know, slap you people on the face and see if you come out with interesting ideas to change the world. But, the truth is, there are already a lot of people trying to change the present situation, and they have been doing this in several ways, using humor, songs and others.

Starting by my personal favorite, George Carlin, who is, in fact, complete faithless in the world, but treated this in a good mood and vivacity and made this comedy sketch in which he talks about environment and our prepotency in believe that we are destroying the world, when we cannot realize that we are not doing such a thing, but we are destroying ourselves.

Not only on the comedy Field there is people talking about the situation of the world and how our hands are tied. On the music area there are lots of singers and bands singing and writing about politics, war, environment, and everything else that has been on our minds lately. Some bands seem to dedicate their entire work on trying to open people’s eyes for what it’s happening. One of these bands is ‘System of a Down’ that managed a large fan base and was able to spread their message. It is very interesting to see a video in which they show parades in behalf of peace while they protest against war. It is always good to see people gathering to do something to the world, so, check this out too.

The song that I believe that it speaks for this generation and really reveals our feelings about not liking the world how it is but not knowing what to do is “Waiting on the World to Change” by John Mayer. The song, unfortunately, was not popular enough in Brazil but it is nice to hear and see exactly what we are trying to tell you about.

And it is not only this blog that is trying to talk about the world, but several others are using the internet tool to expose their ideas, some of them are really optimistic about it and some of them follow our line of being a bit negative, but always discussing and talking bout the subject as is the blog of our friends on the University of São Paulo:

So, as you can sse, there are a lot of people debating about the subject and I hope this only grows, more and more, because then, the next generation won’t be the faithless one but the one that has the write to hope.

[ A gente tem falado desse monte de coisas pessimistas e tristes e tentando, sei lá, dar um tapa na cara do pessoal pra ver se eles vêm com idéias interessantes para mudar o mundo. Mas a verdade é que tem um monte de gente tentando melhorar a situação que está, e tem feito isso, muitas vezes com muito bom humor.

Comecemos pelo meu favorito, George Carlin, que na verdade é um completo desacreditado, mas tratava isso com bom humor e animação e fez esse quadro de comédia falando sobre o meio ambiente e a nossa prepotência em achar que estamos destruindo o mundo, enquanto temos que notar que não estamos fazendo nada disso, estamos é nos autodestruindo.

Não apenas na área da comédia que temos gente falando do mundo e de como nossas mãos estão atadas. Nas músicas temos muita gente falando da situação da política, guerra, meio ambiente e tudo o que tem nos afligido. Algumas bandas parecem se dedicar inteiramente a tentar alertar as pessoas dos problemas e fazê-las abrir os olhos. Uma dessas bandas é System of a Down que conseguiu um público bem grande e até consegue passar sua mensagem. Muito interessante esse clipe onde eles mostram passeatas a favor da paz enquanto protestam sobre a guerra. É sempre bom ver gente tentando fazer alguma coisa então vejam vocês também.

A música que eu acho que marca a geração e realmente transparece todos os nossos sentimentos, dos jovens que realmente não gostam do que está acontecendo com o mundo, mas não sabem muito que fazer, é “Waiting on the World to Change” de John Mayer. A música, infelizmente não fez o sucesso merecido no Brasil, mas é legal ouvir e ver exatamente o que estamos tentando transmitir.

E não apenas esse blog tenta falar sobre o mundo, mas muitos outros jovens estão usando a ferramenta da internet para expor suas idéias, algumas vezes bem mais otimistas, algumas vezes seguindo a nossa linha do pessimismo, mas falando e discutindo sobre o assunto, como é o caso de nossos colegas:
